Our pastors
Rev Mark Lawrence has been in full-time ministry with his wife, Carolyn, since 1997. Together they have served the Lord on the Isle of Wight, Lincolnshire, Guyana (South America) and Devon before moving to Shropshire in 2021. They have seen God’s goodness and faithfulness throughout their ministry and know and believe that Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. This is an exciting new season for them both as they lead Freedom Church Market Drayton having planted it in November 2024.
Mark’s heart is to see people come to know and experience the love, mercy, freedom and power of God through Jesus and His Holy Spirit. Both Mark and Carolyn thank God for this new church family and know they are going to see many lives changed through the power of God in the future. The Bible verse which keeps coming up at Freedom Church is from the words of Jesus in Matthew 16:18…“I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
Kids and Youth work
Kingdom kids (0 to 11 years)
Our values for this ministry are to build biblical literacy, model powerful prayer, engage in meaningful worship, build positive relationships and equip parents to teach. We are following the Heart Shaper curriculum which helps children to explore God’s word, the importance of Christian values, what it means to them and why they are important, interactive engagement with the Bible and how scripture applies to their lives.
Youth (12 to 17 years)
The youth ministry of the Freedom Church exists to teach, encourage, and equip young people to live out their faith boldly, following the example set out in 1 Timothy 4:11-16. Paul’s words to Timothy remind us that youth are not to be looked down upon but are called to set an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity (v.12). This ministry seeks to train and disciple young believers to walk in holiness and be active members of the Church. Our aim is to demonstrate the love of God, declare who Jesus is, encourage a decision to follow Him and disciple young people to live their lives to the full. We want to do this by showing Jesus in a way which is relevant to every young person.
